Find a transaction by amount

Start with the number you know.

A little less friction.

Enter an exact transaction total and open QBO’s native Advanced transactions search with Amount set to Total / Equals. This searches the transaction total, which can differ from its remaining balance.

How to use it

  1. Turn Workflow Polish on. Choose Find by Amount in Quick Create, or use Cmd+Shift+F on Mac / Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows.
  2. Enter a nonzero amount with up to two decimal places. Currency symbols and grouping commas are accepted.
  3. Press Enter to open QBO’s Advanced transactions search for that exact total.
  4. Review native results. Use Escape before submitting to close the overlay without navigating.

What that looks like

Illustrative example

An invoice with a $1,500 total and $750 remaining balance is found by searching 1,500.00. The shortcut uses its total, not the unpaid balance.

Good to know before you start

What you need

  • Workflow Polish enabled.
  • Access to QBO’s native Advanced transactions search.

Scope & limitations

  • For $0.00, use native Amount → Total → Equals → 0.00 → Apply; QBO does not reliably apply zero searches from links.
  • Invalid decimals and unsafe large values show an error instead of navigating.
  • Windows Ctrl-key variants still require installed-platform qualification.
