Start with the question you are answering. One bill can have several payments, one payment can cover several bills, and a vendor can receive several payments over a period. Those are three different views of the same accounts payable work.

When the question is about one bill

Use Print Remit on the paid or partially paid bill. It lists the verified payments applied to that bill, including payment dates and references.

For a $1,000 bill with $400 and $600 installments, the bill remit shows both payments and a $1,000 applied total. If only the first installment has been paid, it shows $400 applied.

When the question is about one payment

Use Print Receipt from the saved bill payment. It shows that payment’s selected bills, applied vendor credits, and net amount.

A $650 bill with a $50 vendor credit produces a $600 net payment. A payment receipt explains the difference between the bill value and the amount paid.

When the question is about a period

Use Vendor Remittance from the vendor detail page. Select the inclusive payment dates, then generate the report. The dates refer to payments rather than the original bill dates.

A $400 payment and a $600 payment in the selected period produce a $1,000 remitted total. The bill and credit details explain each payment.

Review before sending

Check the vendor, period, references, credits, and final totals. Use the report window’s print controls to save a PDF. Generating a report does not email it or make a payment.

A standalone expense or check is not automatically a saved bill payment. The vendor-period tool excludes transactions outside its supported scope and stops when a payment cannot be verified.
